Olympiakos FC forward, Brown Ideye has told Completesportsnigeria.com that his return to the Super Eagles after three years came at the right time.
The former West Brom striker redeemed himself in the Greek league, scoring 13 goals in 35 games in all competitions after a disappointing year in English football, following his £10million record move to the Baggies from Dynamo Kiev. He believes the Super Eagles can thrive again with the current crop of players.
Ideye who capped his return to the senior national team with a goal against Luxembourg said continuity with the current interim coaches will ensure the team qualifies for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“I was delighted to get back into the Super Eagles after three years because I actually waited for it and it came at the right time,” Ideye began in an exclusive interview with Completesportsnigeria.com in Lagos.
"Scoring on my return further boosted my confidence, Consistency on the part of the players and sticking with these set of coaches I believe they can get the job done any time.”
The Nigeria international who won his first ever league title; Olympiakos’43rd Greek Super League title admitted that winning the Greek title was a memorable moment in his career.
“For me, winning the Greek league was something big and a memorable feeling,It was good for me because as a footballer you want to have something to smile home about at the end of the year."
He also spoke on ‘The brown Ideye Challenge’ which he says will be extended to other parts of the country.
“I have been nursing that idea for over two years now and I never had the platform to exhibit it and I’m happy about the success achieved with it and I cannot wait for the second edition because the Rivers State Government are happy about it.”
