Captain of Ifeanyiubah, Chibuzor Okonkwo has informed Completesportsnigeria.com that loss of concentration cost them the match against Heartland of Owerri on Wednesday at Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The game was heading for a barren draw before Saidou Badarou headed in the winner for the Naze Millionaires with just four minutes left for play.
Okonkwo, a former junior international and Beijing 2008 Olympics silver medalist with Nigeria's Dream Team, reckons Ifeanyiubah would have grabbed a valuable point on the road if they had held on till the final whistle.
"We played well, from midfield, defence and attack, we did all that were needed to be done to get a point in the game and I thought we have gotten it until that moment we lost concentration," the former Enugu Rangers right-back rued to Completesportsnigeria.com.
It turned out to be Ifeanyiubah's second defeat in a trot, but Okonkwo refuses to accept the wear and tear of the tough season is beginning to set into the fold.
"Yes, it was our second defeat in a row, on the back of our home defeat by Wikki Tourists.
"We believed we could make up the home defeat with the Heartland game but then, sometimes it happens that way.
"It's not as if we're already losing grip or the team getting tired, no. But like I said earlier, sometimes it happens, it's left for us to take the positives and move on."
Okonkwo who has been handed a center-back role told Completesportsnigeria.com his team is poised to go on a winning streak in the next five games including next Wednesday's Federation Cup games.
"We'll try to make up in the coming games, at least, we have four games before the season goes on break. So starting from this weekend's home match with 3SC, we are going to ensure we don't lose again, including the Federation Cup game that comes up next Wednesday,"Okonkwo stressed.Watch The Premier League Live!! with EXPRESSVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
