Abia Warriors and Kano Pillars battled to a goalless draw in the key Nigeria Professional Football League fixture at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The visitors dominated the game with the trio of Prince Aggreh, Gambo Mohammed and Ifeanyi Matthew tormenting the hosts' defence for most parts of the game, but were unable to find the winning goal.
At the Onikan Stadium, MFM FC continued their impressive home form by securing a hard fought 2-1 win against Sunshine Stars.
Former Sunshine Stars player, Musa Newman, put MFM ahead in the 25th minute, but the lead lasted for 13 minutes as Kadiri Samad equalised for the away side.
Goalkeeper David Ariyo was in inspiring form for Sunshine Stars as he made a number of daring saves, but he eventually conceded a second four minutes from time.
Shooting Stars were totally pulverised by FC IfeanyiUbah who handed them a 3-1 defeat in Nnewi.
IfeanyiUbah's Brazilian import, Alberico Barbosa, scored the curtain raiser in the ninth minute from a delightful freekick.
Sulaiman Mohammed got the second goal for the hosts in the 37th minute while Seka Pascal added the third late in the first half.
Shooting Stars hat-trick hero in their 3-0 win against MFM at the weekend, Wasiu Jimoh, got the consolation goal for his side in the 58th minute.
Giwa FC beat Rivers United 2-1 with Opitoke Moses and David Sunday getting the goals. Ghanaian forward, Godbless Asamoah, scored the only goal for the visitors.
Godwin Obaje scored a brace as Wikki Tourists beat Plateau United 3-0 in Bauchi.
Obaje goals came in the 32nd and 35th minute. Abubakar Lawal scored the third three minutes from time.
Akwa United compounded Heartland woes by beating them 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Aniekan Ekpe bagged the opener in the 59th minute and the lead lasted only a minute as Onyebuchi Ajunwa levelled scores for Heartland.
Kufre Ebong however scored the winner 10 minutes from time to send the Naze Millionaires who are still without a win this season back to Owerri empty handed.
Lobi Stars ended their nine years wait for a win against El-kanemi Warriors with a comfortable 3-0 win against their guests in Makurdi.
Tony Okpotu scored a brace from the spot with Nanem Imenger scoring the third.
Ismaila Gata also grabbed a brace as Niger Tornadoes beat Nasarawa United 2-0 at Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
Warri Wolves and Rangers ended their game in a goalless draw in Warri.
