Super Eagles forward, Sylvester Igboun, helped his Russian side FC Ufa escape relegation, scoring in their 3-1 win against Spartak Moscow on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Igboun and his teammates went into the game knowing that only maximum points would guarantee their safety in the top flight.
Ivan Paurevic put them ahead in the first minute, while Lorenzo Melgarejo restored parity for Spartak on nine minutes.
Igboun converted a penalty in the 13th minute to restore Ufa’s lead, his third goal of the campaign.
Paurevic grabbed his second of the game 22 minutes from time.
The win ensure Ufa narrowly escaped the drop, finishing just a point above Anzhi Makahckala.
