Interview By Sab Osuji:
Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3Sc, goalkeeper, Kola Ige has revealed marriage is least in his plans for now, stating that rebuilding his career is what appeals to him at the moment.
Ige who was part of coach Samson Siasia's U-23 Olympic team that won silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games recently divorced his wife over an alleged irriconciliable differences told Complete Sports that he is gradually coming over the trauma and needs his little girl and his goalkeeping career to look up to.
"I'm trying to adjust to life once again, it has not been easy at all, but of course, life must go on", Ige remonstrates when Complete Sports caught up with him in Ibadan.
"My young baby girl, who is what I cherish so much from my earlier marriage, means so much for me. I hold her in high esteem and I must have to give her all my attention.
"Asides her, my career comes next. I want to contribute my quota to ensure that Shooting Stars takes its rightful place in the Nigeria Premier League."
Ige had previously stood between the sticks for Bayelsa United and later Nembe City FC. Having played under several coaches both at club and national teams levels, the former Flying Eagles goaltender submits that despite starting their Premier League campaign on a slippery ground, 3SC are on the track of seeing light at the dark end of the tunnel.
In his views, this resurgence is an immediate product of the arrival of veteran coach, Gbenga Ogunbote.
"In all sincerity, the coming of Gbenga Ogunbote has brought in a lot of positives to Shooting Stars. The orientation of the players has changed for good, we approach each game with the right mentality, always confident we are capable of winning the game and this has helped us a lot.
"If you check, since he came, we have played three games, win one and drew two, which is something that has not happened in the past games since the start of the season.
"We believe we can push forward and the way he's going, trying to find the right balance in team selection as regards playing the players where they can give the best result, I believe we can do much better in the season.
"We've drawn one game at away, now we hope we can aim to win at away and it is quite possible because officiating has greatly improved in the league", Ige posited.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
