Ahead of the 13 June African Cup of Nations qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and their Chadian counterparts, Watford of England striker Odion Ighalo has declared his readiness to stake a claim for a starting spot in the team.
The goal getter who was among the earliest overseas-based players to arrive at the Super Eagles camp on Tuesday divulged to completesportsnigeria.com that he is looking forward to impressing the coaches and giving his all while training ahead of the encounter billed for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
The former Udinese of Italy star also expressed delight with his invitation to the team following his superlative showing for newly promoted English Premier Leagu side, Watford.
''I must say I'm delighted to be back with the national team,'' he said in a chat with completesportsnigeria.com.
''I had a good experience the last time I was with the team and I'm hoping to do better this time around.
''My target is to earn a regular place in the team and that can only come through hardwork in training.
''I just hope do more than enough to force myself into the thinking of the coach."
