Odion Ighalo was in action for Watford but failed to add to his 14 Premier League goals as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Bournemouth at Vicarage Road.
It was Watford’s fourth goalless draw in the league this season.
In another game on Saturday Leicester extended their lead at the top of the table with a win over battling Norwich with a late Guillermo Ulloa goal.
The draw sees Watford occupy the 10th position in the league table, while Bournemouth are 15th.
Ighalo had Watford’s first chance as early as the second minute after going past Steve Cook and Harry Arter but his Artur Boruc tipped away for a corner to the Hornets.
Ighalo was involved in another Watford move on eight minutes only to volley off wide near the post.
Watford came close again in the 14th minute through Nordin Amrabat but his strike was deflected for a corner.
In the 20th minute, Ighalo was involve in defensive duties, heading to safety from a Bournemouth corner.
Cote d’Ivoire forward Max Gradel was introduced in the 21st minute for Junior Stanislas who went off with a hamstring injury.
Bournemouth had a chance on 27 minutes when Ben Watson loses possession in a dangerous position to Joshua King who teed up Benik Afobe but the striker was ruled offside.
An exchange of passes between Nathan Ake and Troy Deeney on 31 minutes almost resulted to a goal for Watford only for Deeney to send his long range strike over the bar.
Boruc was called to action in the 41st minute, claiming a Watson set-piece.
King came close to equalising for Bournemouth in the 52nd minute but guided his shot over the bar.
In the 54th minute, Amrabat was presented with a chance but mis-kicked despite a wonderland play from Juan Carlos Paredes.
A minute later, Gradel blasted over the bar from close-range after being played in by Andrew Surman.
Heurelho Gomes made a great save in the 60th minute, tipping Arter’s 25-yard drive to safety.
On 62 minutes, substitute Mario Suarez, slid a lovely pass which finds Deeney who tries a shot but was blocked by Cook.
Ighalo had a chance to put Watford ahead on 67 minute but heads over the bar from six yards.
In the 75th minute, Britos connects unto a Watson’s free-kick which went narrowly wide of Bournemouth’s goal.
Gomes made a good save in the 80th minute from Gradel’s close-range header.
