Leicester City continued their fairytale run in the Barclays Premier League with a 1-0 defeat of Watford at The Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.
Riyad Mahrez scored the only goal as Leicester went five points clear on top of the table.
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo yet again was unable to break his goal drought after 90 minutes as he has now gone six games in the top flight without a goal.
The former Udinese and Granada hitman was largely quiet in the highly tense game.
Leicester had the first real chances as early as the 3rd and 4th minutes.
Jamie Vardy’s shot was blocked while Christian Fuchs’ attempt was comfortably saved by Heurelho Gomes.
Ighalo timed his run too early in the 5th minute, and the assistant referee raised his flag for offside.
Nathan Ake also went close for Watford but his header was too high to claim an opener for the Hornets.
Jamie Vardy latched on to an accurate pass inside the Watford box in the 13th minute and immediately released a shot towards the net. His left-footed blast went way wide of the right post. He was also close after a good work by Riyad Mahrez four minutes later.
Ighalo crossed the ball inside the Foxes’ box in the 28th minute but Troy Deeney’s snap shot was weak and saved by Gomes.
Mahrez broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when the ball rebounded and arrived at his feet just outside the box. He fired a shot at the edge of Watford box past Heurelho Gomes’ desperate dive.
The Brazilian keeper however saved a header from Robert Huth two minutes later.
Nathan Ake cleared the ball from going inside a gaping net after Vardy squeezed the ball past an onrushing Gomes in the 64th minute.
Leicester, still ahead of the chasing pack now have 60 points in the table.
