Iheanacho Can’t Save Man City From Tottenham Defeat

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho came on as a substitute in his fifth appearance for Manchester City whose unbeaten run this season came to an abrupt end at White Hart Lane following their 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola’s men had recorded six wins from six Premier League games prior to this fixture but an own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov and a brilliant strike from Dele Alli ended the streak.

Iheanacho replaced Jesus Navas in the 66th minute of the defeat. He could have pulled one back for City when his shot was saved by Hugo Lloris.
The win took Tottenham to within a point of leaders Manchester City.
Aleksandr Kolarov sliced Danny Rose’s cross into his own net after nine minutes to hand Spurs a deserved lead.
City’s problems were further compounded with Son Heung-min causing all sorts of problems with his drive and strong running in the early stages.
Tottenham almost doubled the lead in the 20th minute when Christian Eriksen’s free-kick from 20 yards came close.
Dele Alli made it 2-0 eight minutes before the break when he fired in a low drive after he was played through on goal by Erik Lamela in the 37th minute.
In the second half, Guardiola replaced Fernando with Ikay Gundogan but could not find a way past the impressive Spurs side.
Tottenham could have been three goals up but for Lamela’s saved spot kick in the 63rd minute.
