Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed he initially wanted to link up with Portuguese side FC Porto before signing for Manchester City.
The talented youngster was scouted by the Citizens following his scintilatiing showing for the Nigeria U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates where he scored six goals and made seven assists.
He said he had his eye on Porto but was convinced by his father to join City.
"I was close to signing for FC Porto, where I really wanted to go, but my agent said City was a much better prospect and my father told me I should join City because I would have a much better future there," Iheanacho told the Express.
"Nobody knows what will happen but because City are such a big team with so many fantastic players I didn't believe I would have a future here, but my father did and he gave to me the confidence I needed. Now I'm happy I took his advice."
Iheanacho who is in the Nigeria squad to face Swaziland in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match has scored two goals for Manuel Pellegrini's side in all competitions this season.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
