All three Nigerian players, Kelechi Iheanacho, Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe started from the bench on Monday night when West Brom lost their season opener 3-0 at home to Manchester City.
Anichebe however came off the bench to replace Ricky Lambert in the 74th minute as West Brom chased the game.
Iheanacho, the 18-year-old wunderkind who was very impressive for City during pre-season, did not get his senior competitive debut as anticipated as he was an unused substitute, just like Ideye.
Iheanacho still got a first though, as that was the first time he would be in a matchday squad for the City senior squad in a Premier League game.
A Yaya Toure brace in the first half and a Vincent Kompany header in the second half took the 2013/2014 Champions City to the top of the league on opening matchday.
