Iheanacho Makes EPL Debut, Mikel Benched In Chelsea Loss

—Ighalo Fires Blanks, Ikeme fFails To Keep Clean Sheet

Nigerian teen star Kelechi Iheanacho made his Premier League debut for Manchester City in their 2-0 win at home against Watford.

The 19-year-old came on for Raheem Sterling in the 89th minute of the encounter.

Also at the Ethiad Stadium, Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo fired blanks in his his third straight start for Watford. Ighalo made way for Miguel Layun in 72nd minute. He has made four appearances in the EPL scoring once.

At Stamford Bridge, Mikel Obi watched from the substitute’s bench as Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace on Saturday. His only appearance this season was against West Brom where he came on for the last six minutes.

In the Championship, Super Eagles invitee, Carl Ikeme failed to keep a second clean sheet for Wolverhampton Wanderers who defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1. Ikeme has made three starts in the Championship conceding four goals.

At the Molineax, Moses Odubajo, Chuba Akpom and Sone Aluko all featured for Hull City as they defeated Preston North End 2-0.

While the duo of Odubajo and Akpom started the encounter, Aluko came on for Abel Hernandez for the last 20 minutes.

In Germany, Nigerian defender Leon Balogun made his first Bundesliga start for Mainz 05 who spanked Hannover 96 3-0 at the Coface Arena on Saturday. Balogun was replaced in the 73rd minute by Daniel Brosinski.

It was his third appearance this season with his first two coming as substitutes.
