Israeli State Cup Final: Ogu In, Igiebor Out

By Johnny Edward

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Nigerian midfielder Nosa Igiebor will play no part in tonight’s historic Isreali State Cup final against Hapoel Beer Sheva who parade the Nigerian duo of Austin Ejide and John Ogu at the Sammy Ofer stadium in Haifa, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Igiebor who has already won a double this season with Maccabi Tel Aviv is ruled out due to suspension.

While Maccabi Tel Aviv will be aiming to become the first Isreali team to win the treble having won the Ligat Al and the Toto Cup earlier in the campaign, Hapoel are in search of their first silverware in 18 years and John Ogu is optimistic his side can end the long wait tonight.

Ogu is yet to win a club honour since the start of his career, but he believes the cup final will be the only consolation for his side after missing out on the league title this season.

Ogu told Completesportsnigeria.com: “Its going to be a tough final considering the past encounters between both sides this season, but we are fully focused and ready,”

Both sides have met four times in the league action, with each team winning once in their respective home grounds with the two remaining encounters ending in draws.
