Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi was left on the bench for the entire 90 minutes as Manchester United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw in their English Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Spanish midfielder, Juan Mata, put the hosts ahead 22 minutes from time, while substitute Olivier Giroud equalised in the 89th minute
The draw extended Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten run in the league against Arsene Wenger to 15 games.
The home side started the game strongly with Arsenal looking lively on the break.
Mourinho’s men were close to taking the lead in the 15th minute when Paul Pogba delivered a delightful cross into the box but the trio of Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford failed to connect the ball.
United had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down 10 minutes before the break when Nacho Monreal appended Antonio Valencia inside the box but the referee deemed it a fair tackle.
Petr Cech made the first real of the game when he stopped Mata’s effort from sailing into the net in the 37th minute.
The second half started on a poor note with United keeping hold of possession but without really threatening their opponents goal area.
Mourinho made two substitutions in the 63rd minute with Wayne Rooney and Daley Blind coming on for Martial and Matteo Darmian.
The first goal of the game arrived in the 68th minute through Mata.
Pogba played in Ander Herrera and the Spaniard was able to put the ball into the path of Mata who fired past Cech.
Marcos Rojo came close doubling the Red Devils lead 10 minutes from time but his header wide off an excellent cross from Blind.
Giroud ensured Arsenal returned to London with a point when he equalised for his side a minute before time after he was set up by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
