Nigeria winger Alex Iwobi was left on the bench for the second consecutive English Premier League game as Arsenal ended their three-game winless streak in all competitions with a 3-1 victory against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Iwobi, who has been a revelation for the Gunners since breaking into the first time last season, was named among the substitutes by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger but was not called upon to be part of the game by the Frenchman.
He was an unsued substitute in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
Chile star Alexis Sanchez scored a brace, putting Arsenal ahead in the 12th minute following an error by Steve Cook.
The visitors were awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute when Nacho Monreal collided with Callum Wilson in the box.
Wilson sent Petr Cech the wrong way to make the score 1-1.
Theo Walcott put Arsenal back in front in the 53rd minute before Sanchez sealed the win in added time.
Despite the win, Arsenal remain fourth in the table closing the gap on leaders Chelsea to three points.
