Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi set up two of Arsenal’s goals while Andy Carroll netted a hat-trick as Arsenal and West Ham played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Boleyn Ground on Saturday.
Scorers for Arsenal were Alexis Sanchez, Mezut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny.
Arsenal broke away in the ninth minute but Mezut Ozil’s low cross was blocked away by Angelo Ogbonna for a corner.
In the 14th minute Manuel Lanzini had the ball at the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside.
Ozil opened the scoring in the 18th minute, sliding the ball under Adrian after he was played in by from Alex Iwobi.
Sanchez had an opportunity in the 30th minute in front of West Ham 18-yard but his curler was well saved by Adrian.
Sanchez made it 2-0 for Arsenal in the 35th minute off another assist from Iwobi.
Andy Carroll came close to scoring in the 39th minute following sloppy play frm Ozil but Ospina made a good diving save.
In the 42nd minute Adrian almost gifted Arsenal as his poor clearance hit Welbeck and went away for a goal kick.
Carroll had a chance again in the 43rd minute but his weak header was well saved by Ospina.
Carroll finally found the back of the net in the 44th minute with a powerful header following a cross from Aaron Cresswell.
He made it 2-2 in the second minute of added time, hitting a bicycle kick after his initial effort came off Gabriel.
Prior to the start of the second half Emmanuel Emenike replaced James Tomkins.
Dimitri Payet put the ball into the net but it was cancelled as Carroll was adjudged to have fouled Koscielny.
Carroll got his hat-trick in the 52nd minute, heading in Antonio’s cross which came off Gabriel.
In the 56th minute, Carroll came close to netting his fourth goal but his effort sailed over the bar.
Ospina rushed out to stop Emenike getting to a through pass in the 60th minute.
A minute later, Aaron Ramsey replaced Coquelin.
Arsenal made their second change with Olivier Giroud replaced Elneny.
Lanzini made a goal line clearance in the 68th minute off monreal’s strike.
Koscielny equalised for Arsenal in the 70th minute off a cutback from Ozil which came off Welbeck.
Payet tried a long range effort in the 72nd minute but Ospina parried away for a corner.
Ospina came to Arsenal’s rescue in the 77th minute, punching away Cresswell’s shot.
Arsenal made their final substitution, bringing on Theo Walcott for welbeck.
