By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi suffered a thigh injury in Arsenal's 4-3 loss to Liverpool in their English Premier League new seasoon opener on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Iwobi who made his first start of the season in the defeat was replaced by Oxlade Chamberlain on the hour mark of the defeat after he sustained the injury.

The Nigeria international remains a doubt for next weekend's clash away to reigning champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Iwobi scored twice in 13 appearances for the Gunners in his last season.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger in his post match interview on Sunday, admitted that he was disappointed at the psychological imbalance of his team after taking the lead against Liverpool through Theo Walcot.

"Of course we are bitterly disappointed. It was a contrast between the two halves. We lost this game for many reasons and was one of them is [the psychological impact] of Liverpool making it 1-1 just before half-time.

"The second one is that physically we are not capable of maintaining the level, because not all the players have the same level of preparation.

"Maybe we lacked a bit of experience but if you look well at the goals, I don’t think it was necessarily the inexperienced players that cost us the goals today.
