Super Eagles midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu is delighted to have begun his Odense career with a goal in their 3-0 win over Koge on Friday.
Goals from Azer Busuladzic and Maksym Koval had given Odense a two-goal advantage before the Nigerian international fired home a thunderous strike from 30 yards for his side’s third goal in a pre-season game to the delight of his coach whom he ran to celebrate with.
“I can’t ask for a better start than this, first game and first goal for my new team. Thank you Lord, it can only get better,” Izunna wrote on his Instagram wall after the game.
He also thanked his teammates who helped him settle well at the club.
“I felt good to play for the first time with my new teammates. They have welcomed me well and that has helped me settle down well on and off the pitch.
“So now I’m getting a good impression of the team, our interaction on the pitch will only get better and better as we learn to know each other more,” Izunna was quoted on his club’s official website hwww.ob.dk.
“It was the first game this year and it was great to play and of course to win and to have scored. We led already 2-0, so I felt I could take the chance, and it was nice to score and win.”
