Sanfrecce Hiroshima defender Tsukasa Shiotani has pledged to help Japan stop the likes of Nigeria, Colombia and Sweden if picked as one of the overage players for the men's event of the Olympic Games.
According to japantimes.co.jp, Shiotani is likely to be one of the three overage players coach Makoto Teguramori will include in his squad for the games.
Other players that are being considered are two-time World Cup striker Yoshito Okubo, Urawa Reds striker Shinzo Koroki and Gamba Osaka left-back Hiroki Fujiharu.
Speaking ahead of the release of the squad for the Olympics, Shiotani has made it clear that he wishes to be in Rio.
“If I’m officially asked, I want to go,” the 27-year-old said.
“If I can go to the Olympics, I want to fight for Japan. I think I have something to offer.”
