D'Tigress heroine Ezinne Kalu has described her three-pointer at the buzzer which gave her side a lifeline in the ongoing 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament as a 'dagger in the heart' of the Koreans.
Nigeria defeated Korea 70-69 on Tuesday to secure their first win in Group C after their opening defeat to Belarus on Monday.
D'Tigress won three of the four quarters on points scored and the Savannah State point guard who missed all her three point throws prior her winning three-pointer told the media in her postmatch conference that she felt good helping the team a step further in the competition.
Kalu scored 11 points and four assists and got two rebounds.
"Korea is a great team and they kept us in transition with several throws during the game but we regained our focus after the first quarter loss, playing hard to the last minute," Kalu said in her post-match conference monitored on the FIBA YouTube channel.
"I missed all my throws in the game and prior to my last shot I was not thinking about the misses I had during the game. I saw the clock running down and I took a shot elevating higher that normal.
"Hitting the shot like that was like a dagger in the heart for the Koreans and I felt really good taking my team a step further in the competition."
