-Nigeria champions eager to overturn 4-0 deficit from first leg
By Sab Osuji:
Kano Pillars hierarchy will decide on Thursday March 26 the actual time the return leg match of the CAF Champions League with Moroccan side, Maghreb Tetouan will hold, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Nigeria champions were beaten 4-0 in the first leg and need unreplied five goals to go through.
Pillars officials are contemplating hosting the North Africans under the scorching sun of Kano but Idris Malikawa informs Completesportsnigeria.com that the committee saddled with the responsibility of organizing the clubs continental engagements will meet on March 26 to take final decision on the time of the match.
“The Kano Pillars Continental Committee headed by the Deputy Governor of Kano State will meet on Thursday to take decision among other issues kick off time of the match,”Malikawa said.
“But one thing is certain, the game will hold earlier in the afternoon but the exact time will be decided at the meeting”.
Malikawa insists it is not impossible for Pillars to overhaul Tetouan’s four-goal advantage.
“In football, nothing is impossible. Why not, if they can score four there, why can’t we get five or more here?
“On paper it looks difficult, but we’re going to try to do it”.
The crucial match comes up on Saturday April 4 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Kano Pillars were 4-0 losing semi finalists in 2009 to Heartland of Owerri who also won 1-0 in Kano in the reverse fixture to complete a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
