Former U17 World Cup winner for Nigeria and two-time African Footballer of the Year Nwankwo Kanu on Saturday night hailed the Golden Eaglets' impressive start to the defence of their U17 World Cup title.
Emmanuel Amuneke's team defeated USA 2-0 in Santiago, Chile to kickstart their campaign in the 16th FIFA U17 World Cup.
Kanu, who was one of the stars of Japan 93 said said on Twitter that he was proud of the Nigerian team.
Kanu also praised the home-based Super Eagles who won the first leg their 2016 Championship for African Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso in Port Harcourt also on Saturday.
"Well done our dear Super Eagles and Golden Eaglets. That's a good way to start, and keep winning.
"We'll keep praying and supporting you," Kanu tweeted.
The Eaglets' next game is against hosts, Chile, late Tuesday night, while the home-based Eagles will travel to Ougadougou in a fortnight for the return leg of their CHAN qualifier.
