Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali bagged Man of the Match award as his Netherlands second division club MVV Maastricht played a 0-0 home draw against FC Eindhoven on Sunday with former Nigeria captain, Kanu Nwankwo watching form the stands, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Maastricht played the last 18 minutes with 10 men after Ricardo Ippel was sent off in the 78th minute for second yellow card.
Nwakali who is on loan from Arsenal, featured for 90 minutes in the encounter.
Maastricht are currently fourth in the league table.
An elated Kanu tweeted after the match with a photo of him and Nwakali.
"With the man of the match MVV vs Eindhoven and still the best. Good to support the young ones," Kanu's tweet reads.
Kelechi Nwakali also wrote on his Twitter handle: "Great to win another man of the match today! Thank you mentor @papilokanu For coming today.
Also in the Netherlands, Super Eagles prospect, Tyronne Ebuehi played for ADO Den Haag, but ended up on the losing side as they lost 1-0 at home to Feyenoord.
In the Greek top flight, Brown Ideye made a 90 minute appearance for 10-man Olympiacos who lost 1-0 away to AEK.
And in Belgium, Nigerian duo, Anderson Esiti and Samuel Kalu, were in action for Gent who played 1-1 away at Standard Liege in the Jupiler league.
Esiti played 90 minutes, while Kalu replaced Kenneth Saief on 74 minutes.
William Troost-Ekong was an unused substitute in the game.
