Roy Keane has branded Manchester United’s defending a ‘disgrace’ during their FA Cup quarter-final with Arsenal tonight.
The former United captain bemoaned the Red Devil’s lacklustre marking when conceding Nacho Monreal’s strike midway through the first half.
Wayne Rooney headed home Angel Di Maria’s cross just three minutes later in an immediate response, but the Gunners ran out 2-1 victors thanks to Danny Welbeck’s second-half strike.
And Keane blasted Louis van Gaal’s men for switching off during Monreal’s goal, which saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain evade four challenges before assisting his teammate.
“I was looking at that Arsenal goal from the defending point of view and the lack of character and commitment shown is just woeful,” Keane said.
“The lads have just downed tools there.
“It’s an absolute schoolboy error and United have given Arsenal so much time and freedom there.
“That was shocking and absolutely disgraceful.”
