Keshi Promises To Recall Mikel

By James Agberebi:

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has stated that Mikel Obi remains a key player in his team and will be recalled in future.

Mikel, along with Victor Moses, Brown Ideye and Emmanuel Emenike were left out of the squad to play Chad in a Nations Cup qualifier next Saturday.

Keshi explained his decision at the team's meeting with the media in Abuja on Saturday.

"Mikel remains a vital and very important player in the Super Eagles," Keshi said. "The thing is we don't need him for this very match.

"There are other matches that will be played in the qualifiers, so when we need him we will definitely invite him."
The other teams in Nigeria's qualifying group are Tanzania and Egypt, who face each other next weekend too.
