–Says players will give their best against Yemen
By Bamidele Boluwaji:
Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has told Complete Sports that the withdrawal of Sudan national team from a proposed international friendly match billed for Abu Dhabi will not in any way affect the mentality of the players when they play Yemen national team on Saturday.
The Super Eagles under the control of Coach Daniel Amokachi were scheduled to play the Sudanese on Saturday in a friendly match but the Northern African withdrew and the Nigeria Football Federation quickly made arrangement to play Yemen rather than allowing the players to return home without fulfilling their dream of playing two games in the trip.
Speaking to Complete Sports yesterday, Keshi who is presently in Nigeria said the withdrawal can only affect the technical crew’s programme slightly while the players will still be there to give their best in the match billed to be played in the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
“Well, it is a pity that Sudan had to withdraw at this stage but you never can tell what happened to them, we must also be happy and grateful to God that an alternative arrangement had been made to get the players engaged because it will not be nice to hear that they traveled all the way from Nigeria to that place and they will not be able to play the two games they planned to play”, says Keshi who led Nigeria to win the last African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
“Personally, I don’t think the withdrawal will affect the players because they are all professionals and they know what to do at any given time they are called upon to play. They just have to refocus their mind and train well ahead of the match.
Keshi who could not say much about his expected contract renewal with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF however praised the players despite being beaten 1-0 by Cote d’Ivoire in the first match played on Sunday.
“It was a good match and I must praise the players for the effort, they have known their mistakes and I am sure they will correct them before the next game”, he concludesJiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria Exposed!!!
