–To earn at least seven points
By Sab Osuji:
The leadership of Kwara United, Nigeria Professional Football League side has handed a three match ultimatum to the coaching crew of the team headed by Tunde Abdulrahman, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
In handing out the shape up or ship out order, the General Manager of the club, Alhaji Haruna Maigidansanma, said in a statement signed by Olayinka Owolewa on Tuesday that the Tunde Abdulrahman led crew must pick seven points from a possible nine in its next three games or be the exit door.
Kwara United played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday with Lobi Stars in Ilorin, a result the hierarchy of the Afonja Warriors were not happy with.
They have similarly told Abdulrahman and his lieutenants they must grab at least seven points from their three upcoming games against Bayelsa United, Enyimba and FC Taraba on July 5.
He said the decision was arrived at in a meeting with the technical
crew late Monday evening. Their match against Lobi Stars which ended 1-1 was also reviewed.
Maigidansanma added that the Kwara United management will only be ready to work
with a team of officials and players that will justify the huge investment on the team and not those that will only be collecting salaries without any justification for it.
"If we cannot pick point or points on the road, we must not drop at home too.
"The competition in the league this season is high and every serious team must take advantage of that because there is fair officiating everywhere these days, so we must utilise that.
"We are struggling to keep the team moving and the technical crew must help us compliment our stress to keep them happy.
"Henceforth, there won't be room for costly mistakes again. If teams can come to Ilorin and take points, I must be able to do same too anywhere," Maigidansanma said.
The Kwara United manager was full of praises for Nigerian referees, describing them as one of the best in Africa.
He could not hide his joy for the good work the League Management Company (LMC), is doing to sanitise the league while bringing innovations to make it better.
"Many people may not appreciate the LMC's good work now until our teams start doing well in the continent.
"From the way things are going, genuine champions will emerge at the end of the season, and that will raise our profile in the continent.
"I must commend the Mallam Shehu Dikko led LMC board for their good work and I want to urge them to maintain the tempo even beyond now," Maigidansanma added.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria
