–Gambari takes over as interim Head Coach
Newly promoted Kwara United FC of Ilorin resumed trainings on Monday ahead of its campaign in the Glo Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The few players that resumed on Monday gathered at the Main Bowl of the state stadium complex where the secretary of the club, Elder Dele Oguntokun welcomed them after the Christmas break.
Elder Oguntokun congratulated the players for helping the club snatch promotion ticket to the elite division and charged them to brace up for the task ahead of the new season in the NPFL.
He said at the team’s training ground that Coach Isiaka Gambari will take over as the Acting Head Coach of the team, pending the appointment of substantive coaches for the club.
It would be recalled that Gambari was seconded to the team from the Kwara State Sports Council and will be in charge in an interim capacity with Coach Ibrahim Bako as assistant.
Head Coach of the team Samson Unuanel and his assistants, Ali Zubair (Chief Coach), Jimoh Balogun (Assistant Coach), Rasheed Badmus (Trainer) and Tunji Abubakar (Goalkeeper Trainer) were relieved of their jobs last week, following the expiration of their one year contract.
Oguntokun asked the players to use Monday and Tuesday to acclimatize to the state again, saying proper training would resume on Wednesday January 14.
