Sunderland came from behind to pull a 2-2 draw at Anfield against Liverpool on Saturday as the Black Cats seek to avoid relegation.
Liverpool created a couple of chances in the first half but nothing came out of their efforts.
Roberto Firmino eventually put Liverpool ahead in the 59th minute when he headed home a James Milner cross.
Firmino pick-pocketed Billy Jones and laid a pass for Adem Lallana who made it 2-0 in th 70th minute.
Liverpool fans were seen leaving Anfield in the 77th minute despite their team’s lead as they protest the £77 ticket price increase by the club’s management.
Adam Johnson curled in his freekick round the Liverpool wall from a freekick to reduce the scoreline with eight minutes to go.
Jermain Defoe turned brilliantly in the Sunderland box in the 80th minute after picking up a pass from Morocco’s Wahbi Khazri and smacked the ball, the force too much for Simon Mignolet to keep out.
Meanwhile at the Britannia Stadium, Stoke City lost for the second time within a week as they were defeated 3-0 by Everton.
Romelu Lukaku scored Everton’s first of the afternoon when he converted from the penalty box in the 11th minute as Tom Cleverly was brought down.
Seamus Coleman headed in the second from a corner kick 17 minutes later while Aaron Lennon compounded Stoke’s woes when he raced away to score the third.
