English Premier League side Liverpool defeated German foes, Augsburg, 1-0 in the second leg of their Round of 32 matches to progress to the Round of 16 stages.
Liverpool scored the Reds' only goal through a penalty in the 5th minute converted by James Milner.
The first leg of the fixtures had ended scoreless in Germany and both teams were apparently desperate to get the goals in the decisive second leg.
Jurgen Klopp's men had more chances in the first half, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge the closest to test the defence of Augsburg.
Sturridge again missed a great chance in the 48th minute when he side-footed his effort that came agonisingly close to being the Reds' second goal.
Phillipe Coutinho tried his luck at the edge of the Germans' eighteen yard box in the 65th minute but the ball missed the target by inches.
Simon Mignolet was quick off his lines to deny Augsburg midfielder Tobias Werner and at the opposing end soon afterwards Jordan Henderson's shot was saved by Augsburg keeper, Marwin Hitz with 16 minutes left on the clock.
The tension in the stands and on the Liverpool bench was evident with three minutes to go as Greek left back, Konstantinos Stafylidis, curled his freekick behind Liverpool's wall although he missed target.SINGLE GUYS MUST READ THIS: 5 Things You Should NEVER Do When Meeting A GIRL YOU LIKE For The First Time If You EVER Want To DATE HER.
