Liverpool Ladies have stopped Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala from playing for Nigeria against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday in the Rio Olympic games qualifier billed for Abuja National Stadium.
The English club have reportedly told the Nigeria Football Federation that they would not release Oshoala for the first leg of the Olympic qualifier because Liverpool will be engaged in a crucial league game on the same day.
NFF sources revealed to Complete Sports that the England women soccer league side however assured that the striker would be released for the return leg billed for Malabo in a fortnight.
“We have got assurances from Liverpool that they will release Asisat Oshoala for the second leg encounter slated for August 2, from July 26. We have accepted this because they have been very cooperative and we want to keep the relationship going,” said a member of the technical crew.
Meanwhile, the interim coach of the Super Falcons Christopher Danjuma is confident that they will get a good result to take to Malabo for the second leg in two weeks time.
