Liverpool Ladies FC have sent a good luck message to Asisat Oshoala ahead of the Super Falcons World Cup opener against Sweden.
Oshoala, who was recently crowned BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year, is expected to lead the Falcons attack against Sweden.
The club wrote on their official website: “Good luck to LFCLadies striker Asisat Oshoala as Nigeria begin their FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign against Sweden tonight.”
Meanwhile, Portsmouth Ladies FC forward, Ini Umotong, has warned their group foes that they will have their hands full against the reigning African champions.
The 21-year-old who scored 29 goals this season, stated that the Falcons have what it takes to come out from the group.
“It has been dubbed ‘the group of death.”
“But we are still really confident of getting out of it.
“We are champions of Africa and although our Fifa rankings aren’t too good that’s because we haven’t played too many games against other nations.
“If anything, our opponents may be underestimating us, which can only work in our favour,” she told portsmmouth.co.uk.Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
