–League body insists striker has valid three-year deal with Pillars
The League Management Company, LMC has put a big wedge to striker Christian Obiozor’s desire to lace boots for two-time African champions, Enyimba.
Obiozor claimed he had parted company with Kano Pillars several weeks ago after hitting four goals for the league champions during the Super Six Tournament in Abuja.
With several clubs on his trail, Obiozor headed for Enyimba where he was understood to have signed an undisclosed contract with the People’s Elephant on Tuesday.
An official of Enyimba who would not want to be named in print confirmed that Obiozor has indeed signed a deal with them.
“He came on Tuesday and as we speak, he has signed a contract with us”, the official said.
But Pillars who felt hard-done by the manner the striker deserted the club would not accept that without a fight.
They filed a petition with the LMC who has promptly investigated the matter with a declaration that indeed, Obiozor has a valid three-year-contract with the Pyramid City side.
“LMC has communicated to us that indeed Obiozor is our player. The letter they sent to us made it clear he is our player and that should Enyimba need his services, they should come and clear him from us”, an assistant coach of Pillars said on Thursday.
