The League Management Company has fined Heartland N750,000 for failing to control their players after the game IfeanyiUbah FC which led to their accosting the referee in a manner that resulted in the arbiter being assaulted, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The LMC also brought down its hammer on Heartlands goalkeeper, Ebele Obi, banning the elder brother of Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, for six games for assaulting the centre referee in that week 8 clash against Ifeanyiubah.
Chairman of FC IfeanyiUbah, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah was also reprimanded by the LMC for failing to show positive example by encroaching on the pitch and fuelling the disturbances that led to the harassment of Heartland players by his team and personal aides.
The Nnewi- based club was fined N500,000 for the encroachment of their fans on technical area immediately after the game and their failure to provide adequate security.
They have 48 hours to appeal the ruling in writing, appear before a commission or submit to the decision of the LMC.
The league body also fined Sunshine Stars N5m for their failure to ensure adequate security at the venue of their week 9 home fixture against Shooting Stars and a suspended two points deduction for hindrance of broadcast towards the end of the match.
A fine of N500,000 was also imposed on the Owena Waves for not controlling their supporters from assaulting a visiting club's official.
The Akure Township Stadium has also been placed under close watch for the next three home games of Sunshine Stars to enable league authorities observe security arrangement and general fans' conduct.
In the same vein, Plateau United was also levied a fine of N500,000 for their failure to provide adequate security, crowd control and restriction of access of unauthorised persons from all restricted areas in their Match day-9 fixture against MFM FC at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.
The club was also warned that a repeat of the breach would attract a stadium ban or banishment of the club to neutral venue.
