Mabo Tasks Falcons Against E/Guinea

By James Agberebi:

Former Nigeria senior women’s national team coach, Ismaila Mabo, has charged the Super Falcons to secure a convincing win against Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of their 2016 Olympic Games qualifier.

Mabo, in a chat with Sports Radio, 88.9 Brila FM on Thursday, said that a comfortable win will make the return leg a mere formality.

“They (Falcons), must be very careful against the Equatorial Guineans.
They should take the match seriously because they are no pushovers. I remember in 2008, they defeated the Falcons in the semi-final and went on to win the trophy. And they almost repeated it two years later.

“So, I will advice that they try and win the first leg with a convincing scoreline in order to make the return leg difficult for them.”

He also called on the Nigeria Football Federation to make sure the team gets all the necessary support ahead of the game.

“The NFF should do everything within their powers to make sure the team don’t lack support before the game because it is very important.”

It would be recalled that the Super Falcons failed to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics after they were eliminated by Cameroon.
