—Eagles defender eyes 3rd Bundesliga start
By Qasim Elegbede in Mainz, Germany:
Fit again Super Eagles defender,Leon Balogun will face his sternest test yet in his first season in the German Bundesliga 1 when he files out for FSV Mainz tomorrow at the Coface Arena against Bayern Munich.
Balogun was on the bench mid-week in Mainz's 1-0 loss at the BayArena against their host, Bayer Leverkussen and coach Martin Schmid will hope the Nigeria defender would have fully recovered from the injury he sustained while on international duty.
The Swiss coach will be banking on Balogun, one of his regular starters' in recent weeks to stop the rampaging Bayern's Polish striker, Robert Lewansdowski.
Lewandowski's record-breaking five-goal performance is still the talk of the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich heads to Mainz hoping for a seventh straight victory.
Lewandowski came off the bench to score the fastest hat trick and add two more within a space of less than 10 minutes in a stunning display of efficiency against last season's runner-up and German Cup winner Wolfsburg.
Schmid will hope Balogun and the rest of his rearguard will be able stop Bayern Munich from extending their record as the only side left in the league with a perfect record after six rounds.
Balogun has featured four times in the six Bundesliga games Mainz have so far played this term, coming in as a late substitute in the his first two and started his second two games before the injury.
