By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Head coach of Nigeria Under-17 team, Golden Eaglets, Manu Garba has said that the target on Saturday against the Menas of Niger Republic will be to get a massive win in the AFCON U-17 qualifier in Abuja
According to Manu, the team has trained and prepared very well for the Nigeriens and will want to score as many goals as possible to make the second leg in Niamey a mere formality
“Our target is to go all out for a big win by winning by as many goals as possible then go and consolidate in the second leg in Niamey,” Garba told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It is not going to be an easy game but we shall not give them any breathing space on Saturday.
“Although we don’t know much about them, we know that they do a lot of running and don’t give in easily. We also know that they are hostile at home, that is why we have to beat them very well here to ensure that we don’t encounter any hurdle in Niamey.”
The last time both countries met at this level was last year when Niger as hosts lost 2-0 to Nigeria and the Eaglets managed to pick Africa’s final ticket as the fourth placed team before going ahead to win the U-17 World Cup.
