Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, failed to pick the Premier League player of the month award with Manchester United’s Anthony Martial claiming the prize, completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The Watford hitman was nominated for the award for the best player in the English Premier League for the month of September alongside four other players.
Ighalo who has scored four goals in his last four games for the Hornets was a strong contender for the award, but will now look to fight for it in future.
Martial made a huge impression in his first month in the English top flight scoring three goals and one assist.
The forward who linked up with the Red Devils from Monaco scored on his debut against Liverpool, before going on to net twice in the 3-2 comeback win against Southampton a week later.
The 19-year old becomes the first United player to win the award since Robin Van Persie did so in April 2013.
