Martinez: Everton Good Enough To Thrash United Again

Roberto Martinez boasted on Thursday that Everton can beat Manchester United again on Saturday, having defeated Louis Van Gaal’s side 3-0 at Goodison Park last season.

The Toffees head into Saturday’s clash unbeaten in seven games, while United lost 3-0 to Arsenal in their last outing.

Ahead of the match, Martinez in a press conference on Thursday insisted his side have always put on a good display against United – even during their 2-1 loss at Old Trafford last season.

“At home we have had two good results against them recently and at Old Trafford last season we were disappointed,” Martinez told evertontv.

“We felt we played much better than the 2-1 defeat suggested and two outstanding saves from David De Gea stopped us from getting a positive result.

“The season before, we got a historic win as well, so we have been performing well but in the same way, it is fair to say United have been adjusting to changes and they have now found a settled team that has been performing really well this season.

“Clearly it will be a very tight game.”

Everton beat United 3-0 in this fixture last term, 2-0 the season before that and 1-0 the campaign before that.

“It’s another sell out crowd and we are really looking forward to showing the best possible image of our football club and performing really well against a very good side,” Martinez added.
