Obafemi Martins failed to hit the back of the net on his debut appearance in the Chinese Super League as his side, Shanghai Shenhua, scored a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw against Yanbian Funde on the opening matcday of the season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The pacy forward started the game from the bench and replaced Giovani Moreno in the 76th minute of the encounter.
His strike partner, Demba Ba, rescued a point for Shenhua by converting from the spot the spot in the 88th minute.
Martins, 31, linked up with Shenhua from Major League Soccer side, Seattle Sounders, last month.
The vastly travelled striker once had stints with clubs in Italy, England, Germany, Spain and Russia.
Shenhua next face Shanghai SPIG in the local derby on Friday.
