Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has joined Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in a big-money deal, according to BBC Sport.
Martins’ American Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders are yet to confirm the switch, however.
Sounders’ website even retweeted an ESPN story on Saturday night linking the 31-year-old Nigerian with a big money move to China, the new haven of footballers.
Martins will be joining big names from European football like Chelsea’s Ramires and Atletico Madrid’s Jackson Martinez who recently joined the Chinese Super League.
Martins, who has played in Europe for the likes of Inter Milan, Wolfsburg and Inter Milan, was Sounders’ top scorer last season and is a cult hero in Seattle.
He scored 43 goals in 84 appearances for the Sounders who he joined in 2013.
