By Johnny Edward:
Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins is delighted to be back to the Super Eagles a day after his birthday and two years after featuring against Kenya in Calabar, Completesportsnigeria.com can report exclusively.
Completesportsnigeria.com had exclusively reported on October 13 that Martins, who clocked 31 on Wednesday, would be recalled to the team, and he was on Thursday named in a 24-man squad for the World Cup qualifying tie against Swaziland billed for November.
The Sounders striker dropped a voice note after Completesportsnigeria.com tried to contact him on his invitation.
"I'm happy to be back in the team and I'm ready to give my best for the coach Sunday Oliseh," Martins said.
"That was a perfect birthday gift."
Martins whose 15 goals this season ensured Seattle Sounders a place in the MLS play-offs where they defeated LA Galaxy on Wednesday night, is expected to arrive in Nigeria next week for the preparation of the first leg in Swaziland.
Martins scored a brace in the last away fixture he played for the Super Eagles in Kenya against the Harambee Stars in 2009.
