Micho To Get Pay Rise As Uganda FA Moves To Ward Off Nigeria Interest

The Uganda Football Federation is considering increasing the salary of Cranes head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic, to ward off the interest of Nigeria in the Serbian, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Micho who was appointed head coach of the Cranes in 2013 Completesportsnigeria.com scooped, signed a new three year deal with FUFA in July 2015 and earns $10,000 monthly.

He was reported to have held talks with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation who are keen on having him as a replacement for Sunday Oliseh who left his post as Super Eagles head coach last week.

"Micho is well loved in Uganda and the Cranes have done well under him. FUFA have said they will hold on to him and their is the possibility of them increasing his pay," a source in Kampala informed Completesportsnigeria.com.

"Before Nigeria, Cameroon were also interested in him. The good thing is that he is still under contract with us which makes it difficult for any of these big countries to take him away.

"We have a good chance of qualifying for Gabon 2017 and there is no reason for him to leave."

Uganda top Group D in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier ahead of Burkina Faso, Comoros and Botswana.

 

They will host Burkina Faso in their next fixture at the Namboole Stadium in March.
