Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi will play no part in tonight’s EPL clash against Everton, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed in his pre- match conference.
Mikel who returned to the Blues squad in last Saturday’s 2-1 away win over Aston Villa at Villa Park after missing the last three games is nursing a little problem on his knee.
“We have only Mikel with a little problem in his knee. He is the only one not in condition to play tomorrow” Mourinho said.
Mikel has made 21 appearances for Chelsea this season in all competition scoring once.
Recall that Mikel’s back heel released Diego Costa in on goal to scored his second of the game shooting past Everton keeper, Tim Howard in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park last year.
Meanwhile Mikel has admitted he can’t choose between Chelsea’s wing duo.
Eden Hazard and Willian have been key men is Chelsea’s march to the Premier League summit with their pace and trickery proving too much for opposition defences time and time again this season.
And long-serving midfielder Mikel can’t decide whether the Belgian or the Brazilian is more skilful.
“I’ll go for Willian and Eden Hazard,” he said. “They’re both very quick and technical. It’s very difficult to get the ball off them. Willian is just too quick, he has quick feet. He waits for you to make the first move and when you do, he’s gone.
“Hazard doesn’t run around much in training, but you just give him the ball and let him do what he does. What you can do sometimes is just kick them!”
Hazard has scored nine times for the Blues this season while Willian has found the net just once.
But the former Shakhtar Donetsk ace has established himself as a regular in Jose Mourinho’s side after a disappointing maiden campaign last season.
