Minute by minute: Nigeria vs Cote d’ Ivoire

1- Cote d’ Ivoire kicks off. CIV lose initiative to Nigeria early on. The Flying Eagles win a freekick and in possession now
2- A shot from the edge of the box by CIV goes wide.
3- Freekick to Nigeria, Musa Mohammed held back there
4- GOAL! Cote d’ Ivoire scores the first goal of the game. Their number 9, striker Niangbo latches on a cross to shoot low to the far side
7- CIV medics attend to injured Keita in jersey number 13.
8- Freekick to Nigeria; Awoniyi almosrt gets to the end of that effort but keeper Diabagate in goal for the Ivorians saves the day for his team
10- Obinna Nwobodo receives a head treatment. A corner for Nigeria. Musa’s effort fails to yield a positive result.
12- A long pass to Awoniyi is cut out by the Ivorian defence
13- Freekick to Cote d’ Ivoire. Winger Meite has some concern. The Ivorians almost scored but a Nigerian defender is injured in a goal-mouth melee
16- Christian Pyagbara harries the Ivorian defence but the ball soon gets to the Eagles half
18- Diabagate saves from a dangerous Nigerian counter attack
20- CIV’s Yakou Meite would have made it two for his team to join T. Anderson but the ball is taken off his feet for a corner.
22- Obinna Nwobodo breaks up a CIV play and wins a throw-in for Nigeria but the Ivorians tremporarily win back the ball
24- The game is temporarily halted as Keita (number 13) for Cote d’ Ivoire is attended to.
26- GOAL! Nigeria’s Christian Pyagbara runs into the space on the left side of the pitch from a beautifully weighted pass from Obinna Nwobodo and hits a low left footed shot beyond the reach of the keeper
30- Pyagbara’s shot pass to Awoniyi is intercepted.
31- The Nigerian defenders are playing the ball around their area which hands the Ivorians possession
32- GOAL! Cote d’ Ivoire score their second goal of the game. Striker Bedia (number 15) pokes home a cross which the Nigeria defence fail to clear. Nigeria 1-2 Cote d’ Ivoire
34- Freekick to Nigeriua
36- CIV defender Ibrahima Diaby (3) booked for a foul on Musa Mohammed. His freekick is punched away leading to a counter but Ojo, in Nigerian goal saves from a tame shot by Yakou Meite.
39- Akinjide Idowu makes a faulty pass, handing the Ivorians a freekick.
42- Nigeria clear their lines from the menacing Ivorian attackers but goal kick to CIV.
44- Injury for Niangbo (number 9) of Cote d’ Ivoire. He is stretched off.
45- The second official has indicated three added minutes at the end of first half.
45+3- The Ivorians are exploiting the left side of Nigerian defence marshalled by Mustapha but the ref has just ended the first half.

HT: Nigeria 1-2 Cote d’ Ivoire

45- Nigeria kick off the 2nd half. Freekick to Nigeria but Musa Mohammed gives away the ball for a CIV goal-kick.
46- Freekick to Nigeria but Ifeanyi Ifeanyi’s poor header nullifies any threat by the Flying Eagles.
47- Corner to Nigeria but CIV clear the danger
49- The Nigerian crowd in the city of M’bour have been quiet as Manu Garba’s team seek an equaliser.
50- Offside against Nigeria. The Eagles are in their sixies as CIV threaten from the right side of defence.
53- Olorunleke Ojo tips over the bar a deceptive cross by an Ivorian forward. The corner is dealt with but the ref flags Nigerian players offside from the ensuing move
57- A good defensive work by Saheed for Nigeria to snuff out a threat by an Ivorian forward.
Ojo also gathers a tame shot from the right side of the Nigerian defence.
61- Left back Mustapha was quickest to the ball to intercept a cross meant for Yakou Meite.
62- Loua Da ‘Vila is yellow-carded for a foul on Mustapha.
65- Pyagbara is fouled. Freekick to Nigeria. A poor kick by skipper Mohammed.
66- Left back Mustapha is brought down in the box, winning Nigeria a penalty. Goal for Nigeria as Musa Mohammed scores from the spot. Nigeria 2-2 Cote d’ Ivoire
69- Bernard Bulbwa replaces ineffective Usman Sale after the 67th minute goal.
71- Ismael plays a long range shot which does not trouble Ojo in the Nigerian goal.
74- Meite’s cross-shot is headed out by Zaharadeen Bello.
75- Awoniyi misses a gilt-edge chance to head home the third Nigerian goal. Missed chance goes
76- Ndour Ngor replaces Keita.
78- Awoniyi jumps high but could not connect with Mohammed’s cross
80- Obinna Nwobodo is almost on clear as he bears down the Ivorian vital area but the ball is cleared out of danger.
81- Taiwo Awoniyi is brutally stepped on the arm by a desperate Ivorian player. Freekick
84- Awoniyi tries to be too cute with his backheel and loses the ball naively.
85- Alhassan wins a freekick for Nigeria. Baba Troaure replaces Meite for CIV almost immediately.
86- Nigeria almost concede a third goal. Ojo rushes off his line but striker Bedia’s cheeky lob goes off target. Good work by Saheed to force him to the far side
90+ 1- Offside against Awoniyi. Three minutes has been added after regulation time.
90+3- The game ends 2-2 but Taiwo Awoniyi is down writhing in pain.

Nigeria ends the group stage with 7 points.
