Minute By Minute: Nigeria Vs Ghana

1- Ref Jiyed from Morocco blows the whistle. Ghana kicks off the game.
The Ghana side are still with the ball and win a throw.
2- Nigeria gain possession now and gets a throw-in
3- Yaw Yeboah thought he won a penalty
but his dive yields nothing
4- Awoniyi clear on goal but the ball is claimed by Sai in Ghana goal
5- Usman Sale wins a throw-in for Nigeria. Meanwhile Obinna Nwobodo is fouled. Freekick to the Flying Eagles.
Ghana also win a freekick now but the ball is cleared away from Nigeria’s danger zone.
9- Nigeria keeper Joshua Enaholo claims the ball bravely from Yeboah who Ghana medics attend to from the challenge he had with Enaholo.
10- Freekick to Ghana. Enaholo palms the ball away for a corner.
12- The Eagles’ short passes are proving costly. Musa Mohammed’s cross is cut out. The Eagles escape there with a blatant foul now given to Ghana.
15- Taiwo Awoniyi lays an incisive pass to Sale who opted to cut inside rather than shooting with his left foot. A big scoring chance missed there.
19- Usman Sale loses the ball again at a promising position. Ghana’s counter attack leads to a fierce shot which was off target.
22- Musa wins a corner from a cross. Obinna Nwobodo’s powerful shot hits the upright, hits the keeper’s arm and nestles inside the net. GOAL. Nigeria 1-0 Ghana.
25- Akinjide Idowu commits a foul close to the 18-yard box. He is yellow-carded. Clifford Aboagye cleverly lays a pass to his teammate but the ball is cleared.
28- Zaharadeen Bello clashes with a Ghana player and is briefly attended to. Freekick to Ghana. It was a fine strike by Yeboah. Enaholo palms it away but the Ghana players could not pounce on a rebound
32- The ball hits the woodwork after some exchange of good passes by Ghana players. Yaw Yeboah with the effort.
33- Corner to Nigeria. The ball eludes everyone in the box but overlapping Mustapha could not go past a Ghana defender
34- Ifeanyi Ifeanyi picks up a yellow-card. A rasping shot by Benjamin Tettey misses target for Ghana by whiskers
38- Joseph Bempah’s long throw-in meets with a teammate whose shot is parried by Enaholo.
42- Ghana’s Abraham Atobrah’s cross is plucked on the air by Enaholo.
43- Taiwo Awoniyi wins a freekick at the edge of the box for Nigeria. Musa Mohammed’s curling freekick inches away from the target!
45+1- The ref blows for half time. Nigeria goes into the break on top of the game so far.
HT Nigeria 1 – 0 Ghana
45- Nigeria kick off. Freekick to Ghana.
46- Obinna Nwobodo commits a foul. Freekick to Ghana. The Eagles clear the danger
48- Awoniyi wins a corner for Nigeria, winning the contest with Ghana defender, Addo.
50- Yaw Yeboah is yellow-carded for simulation. The ref’s decision is contentious.
53- Ifeanyi Matthew’s powerful shot goes wide. Ibrahim Alhassan replaces Usman Sale.
55- Ghana win a freekick close to the Nigerian box. The ball is cleared.
61- The Flying Eagles launch a counter-attack but the move only wins them a corner. The Ghana defence clears the ball.
62- Signal from the match venue is poor. The Eagles defence stops the attacking threat of the Black Satellites

70- Asmah fouls Musa Mohammed. The Nigerian skipper blasts home the second goal. GOAL!! Nigeria 2-0 Ghana.
74- The Flying Eagles exchange some passes but it seems they are just keen to please the cheering Nigerian fans.
75- Jonathan Tettey gets a yellow-card for a foul on Mustapha. Aboagye out; Afful in (Ghana substitution).
77- Koffi Yeboah fouls Ifeanyi Matthew. Gets booked. Musa Mohammed’s freekick loops on top of the net.
79- Nigeria counter after a nervy defensive work by Nigeria. S. Tettey in, Atobrah out (Ghana substitution)
81- Nwobodo goes on a slalom, dribbling run but his poked effort at the edge of the box goes out for goal-kick.
84- Asmah blasts the ball wide after some passes with teammates.
85- J. Tetteh and Afful clashes into each other and attended by medics.
86- Nwobodo’s through-ball to Awoniyi goes out for goal-kick.
87- Freekick to Ghana. They win a corner but could not break down the Nigerian backline.
89- Awoniyi’s tame shot inside the box gathered by Sai.
90+2- A long range shot from midfield not a problem for Enaholo.

90+3- A Ghana freekick is not played eventually. Celebration for Nigeria. Disappointment for Ghana. Nigeria 2-0 Ghana.
