U-23 Eagles midfielder Usman Mohammed says the side now believe they can emulate the Atlanta '96 squad by winning gold medal in the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Nigeria made history by becoming the first African nation to claim gold medal at the games, a feat that was matched by Cameroon four years later in Sydney.
Samson Siasia's men booked their place in the semi-finals on Saturday after an impressive 2-0 win against Denmark.
They will face another European side Germany in the last four on Wednesday and the midfielder is confident they can claim the ultimate prize in the event.
"Everyone is buzzing with confidence at the moment, " the Uniao de Leira of Portugal player told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We want to emulate our senior colleagues who won the football gold in Atlanta '96 and we strongly believe we can do that now after our victory against Denmark.
"We have two games to achieve that and we will give our all to make the country proud."
