U-23 Eagles midfielder Usman Mohammed says the side showed the true Nigerian spirit in Friday's 5-4 win against Japan in their first Group B fixture at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Eagles only arrived in Manaus few hours before the game after they were stranded in their training base in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America for days.

And not only did they defeat the Asians, the U-23 Eagles also put up a fine performance in the encounter.
The Portugal-based player told Completesportsnigeria.com that the team's determination and never say die spirit helped them overcome the Japanese.
"We are delighted with what we did against Japan," the former FC Taraba captain told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We showed the entire world the true Nigerian spirit despite what we went through before the game.
"Our target is to win the football gold and to do that, we must continue to fight like we did in the first game."
Next on the line for Samson Siasia's charges is the game against Sweden who they will confront on Sunday.
Mohammed reckoned they must be at their best to beat the Europeans.
"Sweden did well against Colombia and will be a tough opponent for us. Hopefully, we will beat them which will ensure we move into the next round."
