Nigeria international Moses Simon has played down fears that he suffered a serious ankle injury during Gent’s 2-0 victory over Kortrijk in the play-offs.
And according to the teenager, he is hopeful of taking part in The Buffalos next game in the Jupiler League against Sporting Charleroi this coming Saturday.
Simon’s 73rd minute goal on Sunday means he now has an average of 0.7 goals per game since his move to the three – time Belgian Cup winners in January.
“I wanted to get off because I felt pain in my ankle, the Gent number 27 said in his post match comments, according to Sporting Telenet.
“They wanted to replace me but just before that I got the ball at my feet and I scored.
“If I’ll be able to play next week? God willing, I’ll play. I’m with the fans.
“This season, I just want to win, then that title will come.”
Prior to the game against Kortrijk, the 19 – year – old had not found the back of the net in his last four matches for club and country.
