Mourinho Hails Mikel’s Impact In Chelsea Win Over Palace

By Johnny Edward:

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that the introduction of John Mikel Obi at half time helped in controlling his side’s win against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Nigeria international who is poised to make his comeback to the national team for next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Chad and Tanzania fired his first shot at goal in the EPL this season; his fifth in the last four seasons for Chelsea in the Premier League according to the opta stats.

“We scored our goal, we changed the team and in the second half, with Mikel and Matic in midfield, we controlled the game completely. In the last part of the game they played with one target man, we coped with that.”

“In the final few minutes they played with two target men, we coped with that. We did everything a team need to do. That’s why we are champions and why we deserve to be champions, I think everybody knows that.’ Mourinho told Chelsea’s official website.

mikel, five shot in four years it is a poor one, but it is because of his roll if he is playing an advance roll it may have been better. However, mikel is not a bad player, he stopped attach, and protect the back four, the question we should be asking is. Is mikel doing the work of four as expected? I will say yes, we should stop saying bad things about him.
